This Norwegian trio plays traditional tunes through a contemporary lens, though the group does not do its updating through electronics. Composed of fiddler Sturla Eide, drummer H�vard Sterten and accordionist �ivind Farmen, Flukt keeps even the more upbeat tunes in a stately manner, and adds poignancy to the slower ones.
With lovely playing, the group evokes the old world, even if they render that portrait with modern polish and sophisticated arrangements. While this reviewer wished that the group worked up a bit more heat and sweat, there is an austere beauty here that is notable. - Marty Lipp
