Jimmy Cliff is a major figure in reggae, bringing the music to the world. His major international hits, "Many Rivers To Cross," "You Can Get It If You Really Want," and "Vietnam," are deeply entrenched in record collections, and appear on this album along with other tracks from 1969-70.
A hallmark of his style is unrelenting optimism, if even just in the upbeat and less dread-full rhythms of the mid-1970s. Although there are many Jimmy Cliff compilations on the market, this release is a high quality package. The liner notes tell a detailed story alongside the 13 tracks of well-chosen music. - Robert Seiden
