Famoro Dioubate and Raul Rothblatt

Famoro Dioubate (balafon) and Raul Rothblatt (cello,bass) are members of a New York based ensemble called Kakande. The gave an on-air performance at radio station WPKN in Bridgeport CT on April 18, 2005, and later an interview to talk about the balafon and African Xylophone Festival taking place April 29-30, 2005 in New York City. The festival will present two days of workshops and concerts focused on xylophone music from Africa - gyil of Ghana, the balafon of Guinea, to the enormous embaire of Uganda.

This audio presentation is a sampling of the music they performed on the air.
