Danças Ocultas
Danças Ocultas
EMI Valentim de Carvalho (Portugal)

An impressive percussive piece just using the rasping chug of air through pumping bellows of this Portuguese group of four 3-row melodeons opens and closes a set of lyrical music, the instruments interweaving rather than ganging up on us. All tunes but one are by the group's leader and teacher Artur Fernandes. In some ways a male parallel to the five 2-rows of Helsinki's Melodeon Ladies, but fewer melodeons, more rows, and no singing here - Andrew Cronshaw
