Berikely and Zama - Elaela

Berikely and Zama

Elaela is the debut recording by Franco-Malagasy band Berikely & Zama - four musicians and singers gathered around Berikely, the Malagasy songwriter, singer and player of kabossy, the emblematic box guitar of Madagascar. Zama is Eric Doboka on guitar, Thomas Boucherie, a bass virtuoso who has made a name for himself playing with some of the finest African musicians in France; Bema Ratovondrahery, Malagasy percussionist and jazz artist Jean-Yves Boucherie. The band offers a mixed and original sound strongly influenced by traditional Malagasy rhythms.
