Music of the Month For a contribution of 20.00 a month (33.00 outside of the US), I'll be sending you a recording from somewhere interesting, each and every month. Some months you will have a choice, some months it will be a surprise, and once in a while, there will be an extra bonus surprise as well. Check out other ways to donate at The Rent Party.

RootsWorld's Music of the Month for March
Samurai Accordion
Te

Five diatonic accordionists from around Europe join forces to conquer the world of free reeds.

Anyone who follows accordion music knows these names: Riccardo Tesi (Italy) organetto diatonico
David Munnelly (Ireland) diatonic accordion
Simone Bottasso (Italy) organetto, electronics
Kepa Junkera (Euskadi) trikitixa, percussion
Markku Lepistö (Finland) kolmerivinen haitari
All of these artists have all been written about extensively in RootsWorld, and each of them has big fans among the magazine's writers, as well as your editor. I personally cannot say enough good things about their individual talents as players, composers and organizers of ensembles.

Here's what they have to say about themselves
The fabulous talent-studded programme includes no less than five of the most dazzling exponents of the squeezebox. They have all made a huge contribution to advancing the cause of the diatonic accordion, each in their own sphere: trad, folk, liscio, Irish music, jazz, film scores – the list goes on and on. In common with the characters pervading the imaginary universe of the Japanese, these players have succeeded in combining a variety of styles to create a bold and expressive musical experience. Ingeniously melodic, brilliantly tonal, an invitation to savour an intimate atmosphere or relish a session of wild dancing: these musicians with an impressive list of credentials offer us a spectacular and extremely beguiling event.
