In Bali, making music and making art is worship. The gamelan orchestra is the culmination of ages of devotion to music as daily worship. On this disk, orchestras of up to 40 members play on bamboo, wood and metal xylophones, bells, drums and gongs. This is music for a slow paced people (the songs are usually 10 - 25 minutes long), and it feels good to slip into the rhythm, and let this music be your own. The six songs included on this collection offer samples of Court music, music for popular entertainment, and music evocative of nature.
