"Obon Tales of Rain and Moonlight is a puppet theatre piece by Ping Chong, with a commissioned (pre-recorded) score by Guy Klucevsek. Obon weaves together three Japanese ghost stories, merging poetry, shadows, music, and bunraku puppets. Obon premiered at the Seattle Repertory Company in April/May of 2002 and will also be performed at the Spoleto USA Festival, May/June 2002.

Ping Chong

For me, it was a golden opportunity to record with musicians from Seattle, home to so many wonderful players. I recorded the score with Paul Taub, flutes, Amy Denio, voice and clarinet, Wayne Horvitz, harmonium, hammond B3 organ and midi keyboard, Bill Frisell, acoustic and electric guitar and myself, accordion and piano." - Guy Klucevsek
