Rubinchik's Klezmer Trio, Austin TX
We've been told their name is Rubinchik's Orkestyr, Rubinchik's Klezmer Trio, Rubinchik's Jew Band and simply Rubinchik's. Whatever their name, they play a unique brand of klezmer music. The band, formed in the summmer of 1995, is Mark Rubin on
tuba, cello, string bass, Don Weeda on accordion and Ben Saffer on an assortment of clarinets.
These songs were recorded live at Flipnotic's Coffeespace in Austin, Texas in May, 2000, by Free Reed Festival pal Judith Gennet. The songs are all from the traditional klezmer repetoire from Poland and Russia and live up to the band's informal slogan, "Destination, Fun!"
