"Lobo" (full song)

Singer and composer Rana Santacruz describes his music like this:
A frog that sings in ranchero style.
A band that makes big noise and sweet melodies.
A frontier that wipes away and turns into music.

Born in Mexico City, Rana Santacruz now resides in that hot-bed of all things global, Brooklyn, NY. His latest release, Por Ahi ("Somewhere") is a complex compound of Mariachi memories, Balkan brass, and American roots with a rock and roll heart and accordion lungs. With lyrics that run from poetic to humorous, he traces an immigrant's urban landscape that is completely at odds with all the stereotypes we are deluged with in the media. Rana Santacruz is one of a kind.

We chose this track as a great example of how this pan-American artist relates to the world around him. He says, "'Lobo' is a good example of how Brooklyn has influenced my music. More specifically it is an example of how venues like Barbés and the Jalopy Theatre have influenced me. I go out often and I am blown away by the different genres and the quality of music."
